Luc Ramael

LUC RAMAEL was born in Antwerp (Belgium) in 1953. In '75 he graduated as an interior architect from the "Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Bouwkunde en Stedebouw" in Antwerp. He did specialized studies in furniture design and photography. After his studies he worked at several architecture studios. In 1988 he set up his own studio for interior architecture and furniture design, in Antwerp. He designs intimate furniture and lighting objects, without anecdotal humor or exaggerated experimenting. Logic and good taste leads to useful and familiar objects, always without unnecessary frills. Since 1984 he teaches interior design, furniture design and design basics at several architecture schools in Belgium. Luc Ramael has been collaborating with lighting and furniture-companies in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. He won several prizes in international competitions. He has been invited, as external examiner, by several architecture schools and was also a member of the jury for the prestigious competition of " Interior 2000" Kortrijk (Belgium). He is also a selected designer by Flanders DC (Flanders District of Creativity). Nowadays he lives and works between Belgium and Italy. His furniture designs and interior architecture projects were exposed in several exhibitions in Antwerp, Ghent, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt am main, Milan, Paris, Barcelona,....
As an interior architect Luc Ramael works in the field of private housing, shop- and restaurant design, exhibition design, medical cabinets,.....
